Cyprus Revenue to get more powers to tackle tax evasion

IRD will be granted extended access to taxpayer’s data

Chairman of the House Legal Affairs Committee Ionas Nicolaou said significant changes have been added to the draft bill amending the law on personal data, allowing the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) to do its job in dealing with tax evaders.

According to the DISY deputy, the committee decided in favor of amending the law in a way that allows the IRD to search for data from various archives for the purposes of tackling tax evasion without needing the intervention of the Personal Data Commissioner.
