Amadeus and American agree to contract extension

Amadeus users will not be subject to American Airlines segment surcharges after the GDS and the airline reached an agreement to extend their previous agreement for full content.

According to an Amadeus spokesperson, under the “medium-term” agreement, Amadeus-connected travel agencies will continue to have access to American fares and inventory without being subject to surcharges, with no change from the previous agreement.

In September, it was revealed that American and Amadeus’ full-content agreement had expired on Aug. 31 without a successor or extension, and the carrier disclosed that Amadeus would be subject to a $5.50 per-segment surcharge.

Amadeus said that additional terms of the agreement are confidential and therefore will not be disclosed.
