Russia, France amend bilateral agreement
April 17, 2012
Russian and French aviation authorities have agreed to designate a second airline from each country to operate 7X-weekly services on the Paris Orly (ORY)-Moscow route.
According to Russia’s Kommersant newspaper, France may choose French Aigle Azur as the second designated carrier for ORY-Moscow service; in Russia, S7 Airlines and Transaero will compete for the new routes.
Over the past several years, industry experts have warned that Russia’s Aeroflot and Air France have monopolized the high-demand Moscow to Paris route. The carriers, which are both SkyTeam members, have a codeshare agreement.
Earlier this year, airlines lobbied for the same changes to the Russia-Italy bilateral agreement
